pneumonic plague

 

Definition: a rapidly progressive and frequently fatal form of plague in which there are areas of pulmonary consolidation, with chills, pain in the side, bloody expectoration, high fever, and possible human-to-human transmission.

Synonym(s): plague pneumonia, pulmonic plague
