pneumonia virus of mice


Definition: an RNA virus of the genus Pneumovirus, a member of the family Paramyxoviridae, occurring normally as latent infection in laboratory mice, but capable of activation by serial intranasal passage and causing pneumonia.

Synonym(s): PVM virus
