pituitary apoplexy

 

Definition: a syndrome of abrupt onset, consisting of impaired consciousness, retroorbital pain, meningism, ophthalmoplegia, and rapidly progressive visual loss resulting from infarction of the pituitary gland, often because of a hemorrhage into a pituitary adenoma.
