Definition: Protein found in cardiac muscle. It is involved with the regulation of sarcoplasmatic reticulum Ca2+ adenosine triphosphatase, i.e., calcium handling ,and affects contractility and muscle relaxation. Mutations of the encoding gene are one cause for familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
