phosphoenolpyruvic acid carboxykinase


Definition: an enzyme that catalyzes the reaction of oxaloacetate and GTP to form phosphoenolpyruvic acid, CO2, and GDP; a key enzyme in gluconeogenesis; the biosynthesis of this enzyme is decreased by insulin.
