phosphatidic acid

Pronunciation: fos'fa-tid'ik as'id

Definition: a derivative of glycerophosphoric acid in which the two remaining hydroxyl groups of the glycerol are esterified with fatty acids; phosphatidic acids attached to choline are phosphatidylcholines (lecithins).
