Definition:

  1. anesthesia by injection of local anesthetic solution about nerves as they exit from the vertebral canal;
  2. combined presynaptic, postsynaptic, and ganglionic sympathetic block by injection of local anesthetic solution about paravertebral sympathetic chains.
