osmotic nephrosis

 

Definition: swelling of renal tubular epithelium associated with glomerular filtration of sugars and dextrose; the swelling is due to formation of cytoplasmic vesicles by pinocytosis, and is reversible, probably with no dysfunction, when corrected by glucose or mannitol therapy.
