Ne-trimethyllysine

Pronunciation: tri-meth'il-li'sen

Definition: An amino acid residue found in a number of proteins by the action of S-adenosyl-l-methionine on l-lysyl residues; upon release by proteolysis, Ne-trimethyllysine becomes the precursor of carnitine.
