multivesicular bodies


Definition: membrane-bound bodies, 0.5–1.0 mcm wide, which occur in the cytoplasm of cells and contain some small vesicles; hydrolases (especially acid phosphatase) occur in the matrix; fery material from early endosomes carry to late endosomes.
