Moschcowitz test

Pronunciation: mosh'ko-witz

Definition: demonstration of lower limb ischemia by occlusion of the arterial circulation for 5 min with a tourniquet or Esmarch bandage. Following release, skin color normally will return in a few seconds; with arterial obstruction (arteriosclerotic) color returns more slowly.
