mesenteric artery occlusion
Definition: obstruction of arterial flow in the mesenteric circulation by an embolus or thrombus; usually refers to occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery, although atherosclerotic narrowing may involve all three major splanchnic branches (celiac, superior, and inferior mesenteric).
