mandelic acid


Definition: An aromatic principle extracted from almonds and peach and apricot seeds; also prepared synthetically. As a urinary antiseptic it has been supplanted by its derivative mandelamine.

Synonym(s): hydroxytoluic acid, phenylglycolic acid
