livedo reticularis

 

Definition: a persistent purplish network-patterned discoloration of the skin caused by dilation of capillaries and venules due to stasis or changes in underlying blood vessels including hyalinization; rarely appears as a developmental defect.

Synonym(s): dermatopathia pigmentosa reticularis
