ischemic phase of endometrial menstrual cycle

 

Definition: period lasting 1 or 2 days; it coincides with constriction of the spiral arteries of the endometrium that results from decreasing secretion of estrogen and progesterone. The ischemia results in shrinkage and degeneration of the endometrium.
