iodohippurate sodium

Pronunciation: i-o'do-hip'u-rat so'de-um

Definition: A radiopaque compound formerly used intravenously, orally, or for retrograde urography. When tagged with iodine-131, it is used to measure effective renal plasma flow and to image the kidneys for radioisotopic renography.
