infection-exhaustion psychosis

 

Definition: an obsolete term for a psychosis following an acute infection, shock, or chronic intoxication; begins as delirium followed by pronounced mental confusion with hallucinations and unsystematized delusions, and sometimes stupor.

Synonym(s): febrile psychosis
