Definition: If or IKf channels are responsible for spontaneous depolarization (“funny current” in the sinuatrial node and atrioventricular node (i.e., cardiac pacemaker cells). This funny current is caused by sodium-potassium flux and determines depolarization frequency and thus, heart rate.
