ibotenic acid

Pronunciation: i'bo-ten'ik as'id

Definition: Chemical similar to kainic acid extracted from poisonous mushroom species Amanita muscaria and A. pantherina (family Agaricaceae). It exhibits substantial neuroexcitatory properties and is used in neuropharmacologic research.
