HIV gingivitis

 

Definition: a distinct form of gingivitis in HIV-infected patients; characterized by an intense red linea around the free gingiva that extends 2–3 mm onto the attached gingiva. Affected tissue bleeds spontaneously; may be present even in AIDS patients with good oral hygiene.
