Helly fixative

Pronunciation: hel'e

Definition: a combination of potassium dichromate, mercuric chloride, formaldehyde, and distilled water; used as a microanatomic fixative for cytoplasmic granules and nuclear staining; has the same disadvantages as Zenker fixative.
