Definition: A downward or upward change from the linear heart-rate-work relationship observed during exercise testing with incremental resistance. It indicates the anaerobic threshold, (i.e., the lactic acid threshold) at which lactic acid as metabolic by-product starts to accumulate in the body during exercise.
