Haemobartonella

 

Definition: A genus of gram-negative bacteria, possibly identical to Mycoplasma. Some species infect carnivores and rodents. Infection may be subclinical or may result in immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. Transmission is thought to be by blood-sucking arthropod vectors.
