Haemadipsa ceylonica

Pronunciation: he'ma-dip'sa sa-lon'i-ka

Definition: A species of land leech found in Sri Lanka; it attaches itself to the skin of animals or humans. Its bite is painful, and numerous bites may cause anemia.
