great saphenous vein


Definition: formed by the union of the dorsal vein of the great toe and the dorsal venous arch of the foot, ascends anterior to the medial malleolus, posterior to the medial condyle of the femur, and traverses the saphenous hiatus in the fascia lata to empty into the femoral vein in the upper part of the femoral triangle.
