Gow-Gates block

Pronunciation: gow-gāts

Definition: a nerve block of the inferior alveolar nerve that relies on deposition of local anesthetic adjacent to the head of the mandibular condyle. It blocks almost all branches of the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve.
