giant cell tumor of tendon sheath

 

Definition: a nodule, possibly inflammatory in nature, arising commonly from the flexor sheath of the fingers and thumb; composed of fibrous tissue, lipid- and hemosiderin-containing macrophages, and multinucleated giant cells.

Synonym(s): localized nodular tenosynovitis
