gangrenous cellulitis

 

Definition: infection of soft tissue with organisms that produce extensive tissue necrosis and local vascular occlusions; streptococci, clostridia, and anaerobes are known causes, but most cases recently have been polymicrobial.

Synonym(s): necrotizing cellulitis
