fibrinous bronchitis

 

Definition: inflammation of the bronchial mucous membrane, accompanied by a fibrinous exudation, which often forms a cast of the bronchial tree with severe obstruction of air flow.

Synonym(s): plastic bronchitis, pseudomembranous bronchitis
