facial nucleus

 

Definition: a group of motor neurons located in the anterolateral region of the lower pontine tegmentum and innervating the muscles of facial expression, the stapedius muscle in the middle ear, the posterior belly of the musculus digastricus, and the stylohyoid muscle.
