drusen of the optic nerve head

 

Definition: basophilic, laminated, calcareous acellular masses that resemble crystals within the nerve head, anterior to the lamina cribrosa, that may simulate papilledema and/or cause visual field defects.

Synonym(s): intrapapillary drusen
