demodectic mange

 

Definition: an infestation of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands with mites of the genus Demodex; occur in humans and several species of domesticated animals; although asymptomatic in most species, these mites can cause severe and extensive dermatitis (“red mange”) in dogs.
