Pronunciation: si'klo-pep'tid

Definition: One of a group of cyclic peptides that inhibit RNA polymerase and thus block protein synthesis. Used as topical antimicrobials, but toxic if ingested. Constituent in mushrooms that causes toxicity (amatoxin).
