Pronunciation: klath'rin

Definition: The principal constituent of a polyhedral protein lattice that coats eukaryotic cell membranes (vesicles) and coated pits and appears to be involved in protein secretion and membrane trafficking. This protein also occurs in synaptic vesicles.
