Class II intron

 

Definition: introns that do not possess the conserved sequences of P,Q, R, and S found in class I (q.v.). Group consists of ribozymes and mobile genetic elements that show wide variation in both features and behavior, suggesting that diverse evolutionary pathways have been taken.
