Definition: loss of high altitude tolerance after prolonged exposure (by residence), characterized by extreme polycythemia, exaggerated hypoxemia, and reduced mental and physical capacity; relieved by descent.

Synonym(s): altitude erythremia, chronic soroche, Monge disease
