chemical peritonitis
Definition: peritonitis due to the escape of bile, contents of the gastrointestinal tract, or pancreatic juice into the peritoneal cavity; the contents of the fluid cause chemical injury, shock, and peritoneal exudation before any associated infection has occurred.
