cell-cell signaling pathway
Definition: extracellular signals that regulate cell proliferation in adult tissues; during embryogenesis they affect gene expression, positioning of the mitotic spindle, cell shape, cell-cell interactions, and cell migration. Many of the effects are thought to be mediated by the cytoskeleton.
