cardiopulmonary exercise

 

Definition: Cardiopulmonary exercise assessment of the integrative exercise responses involving the pulmonary, cardiovascular, hematopoietic, and skeletal muscle systems. Both treadmill and stationary bicycle platforms are used as exercise modalities. Considered standard criterion in evaluating exercise capacity in patients with heart failure.
