Capnocytophaga canimorsus

 

Definition: a bacterial species linked to infections from dog bites (including bacteremia, endocarditis, and meningitis). Formerly designated DF-2 (dysgonic fermenter-2) by the CDC. These infections usually occur in patients with impaired immune systems.
