Brazilian spotted fever

 

Definition: fulminating sepsis, usually beginning with conjunctivitis, characterized by purpuric skin lesions and a high fatality rate; thought to be due to Haemophilus aegyptius.

Synonym(s): Brazilian hemorrhagic fever, Brazilian purpuric fever
