Pronunciation: bar′ō-sī′nus-ī′tis

Definition: Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the paranasal sinuses caused by pressure difference within the sinus relative to ambient pressure, secondary to obstruction of the sinus ostium and occurring during descent in altitude.
