bacterial vaginosis

 

Definition: infection of the human vagina that may be caused by anaerobic bacteria, especially by Mobiluncus species or by Gardnerella vaginalis. Characterized by excessive, sometimes malodorous, discharge.

Synonym(s): Gardnerella vaginitis, nonspecific vaginitis
