Pronunciation: an′tē-pī′rin

Definition: An analgesic and antipyretic, no longer used systemically because of the risk of agranulocytosis. It is still used topically as an analgesic in acute otitis media and to loosen cerumen from the external auditory canal and as an analgesic following removal of cerumen.
