Definition:

  1. Visualization with a microscope of the passage of substances (contrast media, radiopaque agents) through capillaries after intravenous injection.
  2. Visualization of the interior of blood vessels, especially the pulmonary arteries, using a fiberoptic catheter inserted through a peripheral artery.
