Definition: hydroxyapatite containing ion contaminants (6–8% CO32-, 3–5% Mg2+, F-, Cl-, etc.); found in mineralized connective tissue (bone, dentin, cementum).

Synonym(s): poorly crystalline hydroxyapatite
