ammonia-lyases

Pronunciation: ă-mō′nē-ă-lī′ās-ēz

Definition: Enzymes that remove ammonia or an amino compound nonhydrolytically (hence lyases, EC class 4), by rupture of a C—N bond leaving a double bond (EC subgroup 4.3), aspartate ammonia-lyase (aspartase).
