ADAMS13

 

Definition: A metalloprotease; its function is to cleave large von Willebrand multimers. Inhibition of ADAMS13 is associated with the hematologic disease thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. The name ADAMS13 comes from a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with a thrombospondin type 1 motif, member 13.
