acute histoplasmosis

 

Definition: histoplasmosis caused by inhalation of microconidia, resulting in illness ranging from flulike symptoms to the acute diffuse pneumonitis seen with heavy exposure. Often, following illness, lesions heal, leaving calcified nodules.
