Pronunciation: as′i-nŭs, -nī

Definition: One of the minute grape-shaped secretory portions of an acinous gland. Some authorities use the terms acinus and alveolus interchangeably, whereas others differentiate them by the constricted openings of the acinus into the excretory duct.
